Frequently Asked Questions

  • Every piece I make begins with something that already held a life, a tablecloth passed around Sunday dinners, a quilt that kept someone warm, a lace curtain that framed a window for decades. I'm Stephanie Tula, and I make upcycled clothing from vintage textiles: embroidered and cross-stitch linens, antique lace, worn denim, men's button-downs, and heirloom quilts. Each piece is cut, constructed, and finished entirely by hand, by me, in my studio. My hope is that what you wear carries that history gently forward.

  • It means exactly what it sounds like. Every garment on this site is made by my two hands — no factory, no team, no shortcuts. I source the textiles, draft or adapt the patterns, cut the fabric, and sew each seam myself. Because of this, most pieces are truly one of a kind. Once it's gone, it's gone. If something speaks to you, trust that feeling.

  • The materials I work with have already lived full lives before they become yours. You may notice small variations in color, the occasional faint mark, or slight irregularities in the weave — these are not flaws. They are the fingerprints of age, and part of what makes each piece unrepeatable. I inspect every textile carefully before I cut into it, and anything I wouldn't wear myself, I don't sell. If you ever have questions about a specific piece, please reach out before purchasing.

  • Because each garment is made from vintage textiles — many of which are cut from items never intended to be clothing — sizing follows the fabric, not a standard chart. Each listing includes detailed measurements taken flat, and I recommend comparing these to a garment you already love rather than relying on a labeled size. When in doubt, feel free to message me — I'm happy to help you find your fit.

  • Vintage textiles deserve a gentle hand. I recommend a cold, delicate machine cycle or hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent. Lay flat or hang to dry — never tumble dry, as heat can distort or damage the fabric. Avoid harsh chemicals and bleach entirely. With a little care, your piece will only grow more beautiful with time.

  • Orders are processed and shipped within 1 - 2 business days. You'll receive a tracking number as soon as your piece is on its way. Because everything I make is one of a kind and made by hand, I'm unable to accept returns or exchanges — please read each listing carefully and don't hesitate to reach out with questions before purchasing. If something arrives damaged, I will always make it right. Your trust means everything to me.

  • I'd love to hear from you. Whether you have a question about a piece, need help with sizing, or simply want to say hello — my inbox is always open. You can reach me at shoptulatrading@gmail.com or through the contact form on this site. I read and respond to every message personally.
